Two handsome gondoliers suddenly become kings, and humor abounds as they attempt to adjust to their new social status. Set by the sun-dappled waters of the Grand Canal, this joyful operetta allows Gilbert to skewer issues of social equality and class with his usual brilliant wit and groundbreaking lyrics, alongside Sullivan’s lovely, lilting score.
