California State Talent Competition Takes Place

San Jose, California, March 11, 2018 “Everyone Wins and Nobody Loses!” This is the theme of the California State Talent Competition produced by Youth Focus Inc and staged annually for performers ages 4 through 21 years.   We welcome singers, dancers and musicians from all over the state and  NEW this year, we offer the Spoken Word category. Everyone who participates is given an award in recognition of their hard work and to encourage them in their development.

The California State Talent Competition is the state’s oldest and most prestigious youth talent competition hosting hundreds of young people performing over two days.  Performers are judged by a panel of experienced and knowledgeable judges and receive informational comments from our international adjudicator, sharing expertise on the contestant’s strengths and areas where they can improve.

About Youth Focus

Youth Focus Inc. began in 1969 with the goal to engage young people in activities and programs and recognize their accomplishments.  These programs range from Youth Recognition to the Performing Arts.  The programs serve over 150,000 young people in our community through the sponsorship of 12 annual programs. Youth Focus Inc. is primarily volunteer- driven, involving some 300 volunteers who serve in various capacities throughout the year. The organization has a support staff of one part-time person. The Executive Director serves as a volunteer and receives no financial compensation for his services. In fact only 10% of the operating budget is committed to salary and wages. Therefore, administrative costs are minimal and the return to the youth of our community is maximized - a very positive statement in community programming and fundraising these days. The balance of the budget is committed solely to producing youth events, providing scholarships, recognition awards, and educational programming.

Youth Focus Inc. is a non-profit corporation incorporated in the state of California and is recognized by both the state and Internal Revenue Service as a tax exempt 501 (c) 3 organization. The non-profit tax-exempt number is 77-0205725. We depend heavily on donations from companies and individuals.  As costs continue to rise each year the need is always great. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.

Often we are asked, "Where do the young people go after they have completed their participation in Youth Focus programs?" These young people of accomplishment utilize their training and experience achieved through Youth Focus programs to contribute to the betterment of their community as productive citizens.
