Theatre in the Park

Presented by Peninsula Youth Theatre and the City of Mountain View

Every Friday from June 15 through August 10 at 6:30 PM

Peninsula Youth Theatre and the City of Mountain View present FREE children’s theatre in the park all summer long on the Center’s outdoor ParkStage (located adjacent to Pioneer Park). You’ll see fairy tales and other children’s stories - a different 45-minute production each week performed by the children from Peninsula Youth Theatre’s “Theatre in the Park” summer camp program. Bring the kids, a picnic dinner and a blanket to sit on for a fun way to end the week for the whole family.

June 15: The King Who Loved His Lollipops
The King just has to have his chocolate-covered, coconut coated, peanut butter lollipops! But no one in the kingdom can make them. Isn’t there anyone who can help? Find out in the fun comedy loosely based on Rumpelstiltskin.

June 22: Cinderella
Follow the classic tale of the young girl who spends her days cooking and cleaning - serving her cruel stepmother and stepsisters. One day, the Prince decides to throw a Royal Ball and invites every eligible maiden in the kingdom! When her stepmother refuses to allow it, Cinderella gets some help from her fairy godmother, some mice, and a remarkable pump

June 29: Rapunzel
Rapunzel is whisked away by the vengeful Witch Izwitch and her band of Glumpwarts. When her parents appeal to the King and Queen for help, they send the whole royal court to find her, but the smitten Prince Lewellyn hopes to find her first!

July 6: The Frog Prince
A young prince comes up against an evil sorcerer who has her eye on the crown and turns him into a frog. He must find a princess to change him back, but she’s under a spell too! The two must work together to find a way to defeat the evil sorcerer and return to their true selves

July 13: Thumbelina
Tiny Thumbelina, only a few inches tall, lives amongst the flowers and dreams of finding true love! But when she’s kidnapped by Ma Toad and scary frog family, Thumbelina must rely upon her friends to help her escape.

July 20: The Tiger Turned Pink
Follow the adventures of Toby, a Tiger who turns so pink when he’s embarrassed that he glows like a neon sign! When he and his friends are captured by a bunch of hunters, he finds that his quirky trait is a blessing in disguise.

July 27: Stone Soup
Three hungry (and clever!) soldiers stumble into a small French town looking for a warm meal. But the villagers are suspicious of strangers and slow to share their wares. The soldiers must put their heads together and cooperate to fill their bellies and bring the townsfolk together.

August 3: Blather, Blarney, and Balderdash
Meet Fin O’Grady, a tongue-tied shepherd trying to win the hand of his one true love. It will take the help of three wacky leprechauns to help Fin learn to tell a story and impress the fair young maiden.

August 10: Aladdin
Aladdin may be a street rat, but with a quick wit and creative mind he proves himself to be a diamond in the rough. He manages to stay one step ahead of an evil wizard with a little magical help from a lucky lamp and a remarkable ring!
