Spring Concert - *Celebraciones*
Celebraciones is a festive journey from the Romanticism of 19th century Central Europe to the cultural melting pot of 20th century South America. The youthful Mass in G Majorcomposed by Franz Schubert, captures his lyrical elegance and is accompanied by a string orchestra. Misa Criolla, one of South America’s most beloved choral works, is composed by Argentinian pianist and composer, Ariel Ramirez. Misa Criolla explores the rhythms and dances from Argentina and Bolivia, combined with Spanish text and is accompanied by traditional folk instruments. Continuum a cappella, the elite high school subset of PBA’s Changed Voices choir, will present a set ranging from sacred Renaissance motets to contemporary pop hits.
The GRAMMY Award-winning Pacific Boychoir offers Bay Area boys unparalleled performance opportunities, worldwide travel, collaborations with professional powerhouses, and ambassadorial experiences resulting in a compelling personal development experience. Pacific Boychoir is composed of boys ages 4-18 from our after-school choral program, and from the Pacific Boychoir Academy (PBA), an independent choir school for boys’ grades 4-8. Founded in Oakland, California in 1998 by Artistic Director Kevin Fox, PBA offers unique and rigorous choral and academic programming, producing confident, engaged young men. The LA Times calls PBA’s sound quality “astonishing,” while the New York Times hails PBA’s ability to perform music “far beyond the reach of most children’s choirs.” Hear, watch, and learn more at PacificBoychoir.org
