Menorahs and Miracles: A Hanukkah Celebration
In Partnership with Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center of Silicon Valley
Special activities from 12:00 noon – 4:00 p.m.
Families are invited to celebrate the Hanukkah cultural celebration at the museum in partnership with Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center of Silicon Valley (APJCC). Hanukkah is also called the “Festival of Lights” and the “Festival of Dedication” and is determined each year by the Hebrew calendar.
NEW THIS YEAR - MENORAH LIGHTING: To celebrate the first evening of Hanukkah, members from the APJCC will light the first candle in a menorah at 4 p.m.
Take joy in honoring and sharing your own culture, or discovering the traditions of your neighbors by:
- enjoying performances by students from the Yavneh Day School led by Lior Ben-Hur
- making candles
- playing dreidel games
- tasting latkes
- going on a miracle scavenger hunt in Bill’s Backyard
- forming clay dreidels in the Art Loft
- participating in storytimes in the Wonder Cabinet and getting creative with illuminating fingerprinting in the Art Studio
- special Hanukkah storytelling with Yael Schy
As part of the museum’s Cultural Celebration series, the museum is committed to promoting the region’s diversity so that families of all backgrounds can explore the many cultures and traditions in Silicon Valley. Menorahs and Miracles joins other museum celebrations including Lantern Festival, Dia de los Muertos, Diwali Festival, El Dia de los Tres Reyes Magos, Lunar New Year, Children of the Dragon, Proud of My Family, and Family Lunadas.
