ICC Summer Camps: A Bay Area Tradition of Learning, Culture, and Fun

For more than 20 years, the India Community Center (ICC) in Milpitas has been a trusted destination for families seeking enriching and engaging summer experiences for their children. ICC’s Summer Camps have grown steadily over the years, evolving to meet students' changing interests and the needs of Bay Area parents. Today, ICC offers one of the region’s most diverse summer camp experiences, welcoming preschoolers through high school students.

What makes ICC Summer Camps unique is the incredible variety of topics offered each week. Programs often combine multiple subjects, so children enjoy a balanced experience of learning, creativity, and play. Camps range from robotics, coding, drones, AI, engineering design, and VEX robotics to science exploration, chemistry, physics, math challenges, and world exploration, allowing students to strengthen critical thinking skills while staying curious and engaged during the summer months.

Creativity and hands-on discovery are at the heart of many camps. In Aroma Artistry camps, children experiment with DIY projects and create items they can take home, such as candles, soaps, and even sunscreen, while learning about natural ingredients and basic chemistry. In Cooking and Chef camps, students prepare and bake delicious dishes using eggless, vegetarian-friendly recipes, proudly taking home their creations to share with family.

The arts are equally vibrant at ICC. Art, Theatre, Music, and Design camps encourage children to explore their imagination through painting, storytelling, and performance. In Drama and Theatre camps, students not only act but also help design stage props and visual elements, learning what goes into producing a show. Many performances draw inspiration from Indian folktales and storytelling traditions, adding a cultural dimension to the creative process.

Dance camps, including Bollywood and Kathak, introduce students to rhythm, expression, and movement. Many performing arts camps culminate in live stage performances for parents at the end of the week, giving children the excitement of performing under stage lights. Even camps such as Public Speaking and Debate provide opportunities for students to build confidence presenting their ideas on stage.

ICC also celebrates cultural learning through camps such as India Immersion and Indian Art, where children explore traditions, crafts, and cultural heritage in engaging ways.

For children who enjoy movement and outdoor play, ICC offers a wide range of sports camps. Alongside favorites like soccer, basketball, volleyball, throwball, wall tennis, and table tennis, campers are introduced to traditional Indian sports such as cricket, kho-kho, and kabaddi, offering a unique blend of global and cultural athletics.

Newer offerings keep the experience fresh each year. Camps like Mystery Solving introduce children to the world of young detectives, where campers use logic, clues, and reasoning to solve puzzles and tackle exciting challenges together.

Families appreciate the convenience ICC provides with extended care from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, hot vegetarian lunches and two snacks daily, and a free camp T-shirt for every camper. High school and college students also return each year as volunteer counselors, becoming supportive “big buddies” for younger campers while earning service hours and leadership recognition.

Over the years, more and more families have discovered ICC’s welcoming environment and thoughtfully designed programs. Each week offers a different blend of cultures, ideas, and activities, creating a true melting pot of learning and fun where every child can find something exciting to explore.

If you’re looking for a summer experience where children can learn, create, perform, play, and build lasting friendships, ICC Summer Camps are well worth exploring—you might just discover your child’s new favorite summer tradition.
