Priyanaka Chopra Jonas

"Not with a slap, Kill them with Work," Priyanaka Chopra Jonas' Cheeky Response to Anubhav Sinha's Congratulatory Tweet is Loved by her fans!

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, in a dazzling development, has signed a 'two-year multimillion-dollar first-look television deal' with Amazon, as per her twitter confirmation.

Congratulating her on the same platform, film maker Anubhav Sinha reminded her of the times when a leading Indian newspaper years ago wrote her career off with, "No one would touch her with a barge poll! " Yeah, no one can..." he adds sarcastically, referring to the so called nepotistic Hindi film industry.

The global icon replies to the friendly tweet cheekily with, "Thappad nahi...kaam se maaro...lol thank you for the support."

Sinha was referring to a front-page article in Bombay Times in 2013, titled, "NO HEROES FOR PC." The article is filled with one-sided assumptions and was mostly about how the "wives," of these male stars didn't want their husbands to work with her for various reasons. These wives include Kareena Kapoor, Twinkle Khanna, Gauri Khan, Suzenne Roshan and so on, exhibiting acute sexism and double standards along with an "outsider" bias. At that time and now, many pointed fingers at Karan Johar as the planter of these articles against PC.

Priyanka Chopra, a happily married woman, an actress, a philanthropist, an entrepreneur, a businesswoman, an inspiration for many and a global icon with 26 million followers on twitter, shakes off such criticism with a breezy indifference.

"As both an actor and producer, I have always dreamt of an open canvas of creative talent coming together from all over the world to create great content irrespective of language and geography. This has always been the DNA of my production house Purple Pebble Pictures, and is the foundation of this exciting new endeavor with Amazon," Priyanka wrote in an Instagram post.

With Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely suicide and nepotistic debates raging high on social media, support for such self-made actors and actresses is at an all time high.

As reported in The Variety, currently, Priyanka has two Amazon projects that she is working on. One is reality dance show Sangeet, which she is producing with her singer husband Nick Jonas. It is inspired by her own wedding sangeet and will see families of the bride and groom compete against each other for the winning trophy. The other project is Anthony and Joe Russo's Citadel, a spy drama in which she will star with Richard Madden of Game of Thrones and Bodyguard.

Because the (latest signed) deal is a global one, Priyanka will get to make content in both English and Hindi languages.

"My quest really is to be able to tell female stories, work with creators from around the world and create a cross-pollination of storytelling. Amazon is such a great partner to do that because their reach and outlook is so global. My Amazon television deal is a global deal, so I can do Hindi language, I can do English language, I can do whatever language I want," she said, in an interview with Variety.
