Protect Our Children’s Privacy – Repeal the Co-Ed Bathroom Law and sign the Initiative for the Privacy Protection Act

In the summer of 2013, the California legislature passed AB1266 (nick-named the Co-Ed Bathroom Law), without a public vote, and implemented it on January 1, 2014.  This law amended the Education Code to allow all students in all CA public schools, from K-12 Grade to use facilities (bathrooms and locker rooms) based on “perceived” sex.  No prior authorization is necessary as long as you have the “feel”.  Students are also allowed to join sex-segregated sports teams based on “perceived” sex.

If a school wants to protect the majority students’ privacy by providing a one toilet unisex bathroom for transgender students, this option does not satisfy the current law. If sued, the school would lose and suffer consequences.

An elementary school in San Francisco has already implemented this:

The Privacy Protection Act is an initiative to override the Co-Ed Bathroom Law.  This initiative widens the scope to all government buildings (including schools), and says that biological males  use male facilities, biological females use female facilities.  It further protects private businesses from being sued if they want to maintain the segregation.

365,000 signatures are needed by December 14, 2015 in order to qualify the initiative for the November 2016 ballot.

Time is short.  Please download the petition, sign, and mail it back to the address printed on the petition TODAY.

Help put common sense back in our communities and ensure the safety and privacy of all, especially our children.
