Celebrate Mid-Autumn Moon Festival

WHAT: Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose invites families to celebrate Mid-Autumn Moon Festival with hands-on activities and traditional lion dance performances. Families can explore the traditions of the autumn moon and harvest season while making a playdough mooncake and their own lantern to take home.

WHEN: Saturday, September 26, 2026, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm | Special programming 10 am - 2 pm

WHERE: Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose, 180 Woz Way, San Jose, CA

HIGHLIGHTS:

  •  Yun Yee Tong USA Lion Dances: 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
  • Make a Playdough Mooncake: Get creative with this hands-on activity inspired by a traditional Mid-Autumn Festival treat.
  • Make a Lantern: Create a colorful lantern to celebrate the moon and the season.

Mid-Autumn Moon Festival is a joyful opportunity for children and families to experience cultural traditions through play, creativity and discovery. The event is made possible in part by a Cultural Affairs grant from the City of San Jose.

MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES:
Visual opportunities include the lion dance performances and families participating in the hands-on mooncake and lantern-making activities.

TICKETS:
The festival is included with Museum admission. Tickets are available through the Museum website.
