Gold Prices Hit Record High As Apprehension over Economy Rises

According to a report in the CNN Business, Gold prices have soared to a record high, with investors rushing to find safe places to park their money as concerns grow about a resurgence in the coronavirus and the impact that could have on the global economy.

Gold hit $1,944 per ounce earlier on Monday, beating its previous record of $1,921 set in 2011. It has now gained about 27% so far this year. Silver also got a boost, climbing more than 6% to reach $24.21 an ounce, eclipsing Thursday's seven-year high.

"Gold is the clear beneficiary of safe haven demand," Stephen Innes, chief global markets strategist at AxiCorp, said in a research note. And the record run may not be over yet. Analysts at UBS expect gold to reach $2,000 before the end of the year, driven higher by low US interest rates, a weaker dollar and tension between the United States and China.

The BBC reports that UK government signs deals for 90 million doses the morality of which is being questioned on the grounds of the deal as not one to be proud of as it would be considered colluding in unacceptable vaccine nationalism, diminishing access for the most vulnerable groups in less well-off countries.

“We should be leading global efforts to coordinate access to those most in need,” tweeted writer Richard Horton.

Arvind Kejriwal’s vision for education gains momentum with 98% pass percentage in Govt Schools, beating Private Schools thrice in a row!

By India Parent Magazine
“I’m the girl in the yellow top. I scored 98.6% in Class 12th Board Exams. It is such a memorable day for me. It is said, where there is a will, there is a way,” a proud Delhi government school student shouted out on her social media yesterday. All prominent members of the AAP party including Preethi Sharma Menon, party’s national spokesperson, highlighted her post immediately.

Five years ago Arvind Kejriwal, the then newly elected chief minister and his deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia had a dream––making the public/government schools the best in the country thus educating the poorest of the poor with free and best education available. More than 30 percent of the budget was allotted to this vision, which by itself is a record for any other state.
