Senator Mitt Romney marched with protesters yesterday, becoming the first prominent Republicans to do so.

He is seen with a mask, marching along with other protestors in Washington. He tweeted photos of himself at a march in Washington, along with the message, "Black Lives Matter."

He also posted picture of his father on Saturday, who was the governor of Michigan from 1963 to 1969. He was seen marching with civil rights protesters in the 1960s.

The picture was captioned "This is my father, George Romney, participating in a Civil Rights march in the Detroit suburbs during the late 1960s - "Force alone will not eliminate riots," he said. "We must eliminate the problems from which they stem."

Nikil Saval Beats Conservative Democrat Pennsylvania State Sen. Larry Farnese in Philly Democratic primary in a major Victory for Philadelphia Progressive Activists

Nikil Saval, an editor and activist, defeats Pennsylvania State Sen. Larry Farnese in a closely watched Democratic primary, the Associated Press projected, in a major victory for Philadelphia progressive activists. With 100% of precincts reporting votes cast in person, Saval led with 68% of the vote over Farnese, who was first elected to the seat long held by Vince Fumo in 2008. But only about 15,000 votes had actually been counted as of Wednesday, with more than 40,000 mail ballots still to be tallied. The early race call suggested high confidence that mail ballots in the race would be similar to in-person votes, reports The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Saval is an organizer with the union UNITE HERE, a Bernie 2016 campaigner, the author of a book on the history of the office cubicle, an editor of the literary magazine n+1, a dues-paying member of Democratic Socialists of America, and a Philadelphia ward boss. Now, the bespectacled 36-year-old is taking his next career step: running for the Pennsylvania State Senate, writes John Washington in The Nation.

Saval, who follows Bernie Sanders keenly, dreams of subsidizing family care "from cradle to grave" and support domestic workers by paying them "a living wage and guaranteeing their right to unionize."

Saval was born in Los Angeles to parents from Bangalore and grew up in Los Angeles. He graduated from Columbia University in 2005 and received a PhD in English from Stanford University in 2014. HE is married to Shannon Garrison. They live in Philadelphia with their son. He is a member of Democratic Socialists of America

This is the third round of scholarship winners announced this year. Corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards and National Merit $2500 Scholarships were awarded in the spring. When the final scholarship is announced, about 7,600 high school seniors will have received over $30 million. The 92 private and 75 public colleges and universities are spread out over 43 states and the District of Columbia.

The National Merit^(R) Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. Approximately 1.6 million high school students enter the program each year.

WHITE WOMAN FIRED FOR CALLING COPS ON A BLACK MAN

Christian Cooper, a Harvard-educated New York senior biomedical and former comic book editor, recorded a video in which a woman calls police on him in Central Park on Memorial Day after he says he asked her to leash her dog. The woman has been identified as Amy Cooper. As the woman was walking her dog unleashed in the Central Park where she was not supposed to, Christian Cooper, a bird watcher, asked her to leash her dog upon which she called the police and complained on Cooper in a racially charged language. The white woman accused the black man of threatening her life and dog. Christian Cooper records the entire conversation and uploads it on his face book. No charges were filed against him or Amy, who was fired from her job at investment firm Franklin Templeton as news of the racial incident went viral. She has since apologized for the incident, insisting that she's not racist. Christian Cooper posted the video on his face book page and you can watch that above. The video went viral with millions of views in huge support to Chirstian Cooper.
The New York City Commission on Human Rights is investigating and the Central Park Civic Association has called for her to be banned from the park.
Christian Cooper explained what he says happened leading up to the video in his Face book post. Here's what he wrote:
Central Park this morning: This woman's dog is tearing through the plantings in the Ramble.

ME: Ma'am, dogs in the Ramble have to be on the leash at all times. The sign is right there.
HER: The dog runs are closed. He needs his exercise.
ME: All you have to do is take him to the other side of the drive, outside the Ramble, and you can let him run off leash all you want.
HER: It's too dangerous.
ME: Look, if you're going to do what you want, I'm going to do what I want, but you're not going to like it.
HER: What's that?
ME (to the dog): Come here, puppy!
HER: He won't come to you.
ME: We'll see about that...

I pull out the dog treats I carry for just for such intransigence. I didn't even get a chance to toss any treats to the pooch before Karen scrambled to grab the dog.
HER: DON'T YOU TOUCH MY DOG!!!!!
That's when I started video recording with my iPhone, and when her inner Karen fully emerged and took a dark turn...
